Cyberbullying- The Silent Devil in Us All

Cyberbullying- The Silent Devil in Us All

Bullying is something very much frowned upon in our society and is known as morally wrong by most of us. However, the school system has made us limit bullying to the physical act alone and makes us very unaware of the acts of bullying we’ve performed without having to ever form a fist.

We say hurtful and mean things to people hiding behind our screens and even make jokes out of them. People get depressed and even suicidal a lot of times by virtue of what they experience on social media. When do we draw the line? And how do we avoid becoming cyberbullies? I believe we first have to come to the realisation that what we say with our hands can just be as hurtful. As we know it is written communication and can be very easily interpreted differently, how about we always vet whatever it is we have to say before posting. Refraining from commenting in fits of rage and without a clear understanding of a situation are sure steps to getting us on the right track.

Have you ever been a victim of cyberbullying? How did it feel? And how did you handle it?
